TESTIMONIALS

I highly recommend Katie for anyone who takes fitness seriously and wants to be inspired by their fellow gym mates. Katie’s workouts are thoughtful, challenging, and rewarding. I’m a lifelong athlete but years of working out on my own or with a trainer or friend left me missing the camaraderie of team sports. When I joined the supportive UG community that Katie created I felt so much closer to that younger, enthusiastic, and energetic team player!
Katie helped me recover from my first pregnancy and most recently, she helped me stay consistent with workouts until my 36th week of my second pregnancy. Her approach to fitness absolutely helped me during my labor and delivery and my postpartum recovery - I was genuinely excited to be back at the gym as soon as my fourth trimester ended. Her modification and alignment cues have helped me feel supported as I ease back into her rigorous program. I look forward to seeing how she incorporates new ideas, moves, sequences with each workout.
Thank you Katie! +Dr. Emily

It all started on October 4th, 2019. Actually, rewind. It REALLY all started on June 26th, 2019. It then went on to June 29th, July 2nd, 8th ,10th, 11th, 15th, 17th, and 18th. Along with, September 3rd.
And for good October 4th, 2019 to present day.
On the evening of June 25th, 2019, I received a text message from a close friend that had been training at UG here and there. I had been seeing her post about going to UG and thought you know it would be really nice to go to a class, but I wasn’t confident enough to do so and, I thought that I was already so far gone out of shape that if and when I did attend a class I would drop dead. After about 5 minutes of going back and forth with my friend via text message I finally said that I would try out a class for her (not for me, weird, right?).
My first class ever was a Body Sculpt class (which I now love; at the time, I wasn’t loving it too much). I signed up for another class 3 days later and, then July came and I did a few classes here and there. Then rolled around September 3rd, 2019 and that was my last class for a month. Why? Well my friend that I had been going to the classes with, went back to college, I did not know a soul in any of the classes and I just didn’t feel comfortable at all. After a month of watching UG stories on Instagram and just wishing I could believe in myself a bit more, and that I could do it, and a little harassment from a friend I finally committed to UG.
BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE.
At the time, when I joined UG for good the only class time that fit my schedule was the 5:30am class. So that first night before going to bed I set my alarm for 4:30am and thought to myself ‘I am really in this’, and, I’m glad I made that decision. Before UG I was depressed, extremely lethargic, treated my body like crap, drank and ate whatever no matter what time it was in the day or night. I was going off the deep end.
Fast forward to present day (April 24th, 2020) I am down 20lbs, I have dropped a pants size and have lost some inches. My overall attitude is so much better. I have so much more energy. I still struggle with my eating but it’s A LOT better than it was 6 months ago. And, I just feel so much better about myself. Don’t get me wrong there are some mornings where I don’t want to work out but, once I get to the gym or do a ZOOM Class (because that’s the new norm now #coronavirus), I feel great. After a class with UG I always feel setup for success. Oh, and more times than none there’s always a modification – so you can always d0 it. Before UG I was a walking book of excuses. I am so happy to have changed my ways.
Whether you take a class with Katie that’s 30 minutes or 45 minutes she will be sure to pack it all in and make you sweat. Yes, lots of sweat. You’re locked in from the second you start that light warmup. I am so thankful and grateful to be able to have Katie has a fitness coach. She is highly skilled and extremely passionate about her work. No workout will ever be the same. She keeps it interesting and fun. Makes me want to always come back for more! Oh, and she plays some great tunes.
In the words of KP, “hard work and dedication pay off”.
I am growing stronger and stronger every day.
So happy I found UG and, am so grateful to have a coach/trainer as passionate as Katie.

"I first officially met Katie through a mutual friend, after admiring her awesome hair and big smile from afar for sometime, I got to know this fabulously funny type-a gal with a rocking bod and we quickly became friends- our husbands bonded too! Katie always had a passion for fitness and eating well- something I couldn't have cared less about. She even worked out everyday we were on vacation with a bunch of other couples! I got engaged and was starting to stress out about looking good for my wedding and Katie graciously shared some eating tips with me. I started really focusing on my eating but for me, nothing changed. A few of our friends were interested in being healthy and getting fit too so we asked Katie to train us- really it was an excuse to hang out with the girls but also feel the burn! We started working out together in the park and it instantly seemed like training was what Katie was meant to do. She had a great workout planned meticulously around our individual fitness levels and various injuries, but made it seamlessly blend together into a circuit that made us all feel successful. She was tough but loving and knew just how much to challenge us. For a high anxiety time such as wedding planning, working out with Katie became like therapy for me, I left sweaty and less stressed out every time I saw her! Time went by and for me what started as a group of friends hanging out and sweating has turned into an all out jam session of loving working out. Katie has trained me for nearly 9 months now in large groups, small groups, and the individual setting and I have never done the same routine twice. She has pushed me to find the best version of myself- which came true for my wedding this past July. My bod was hot and my confidence was soaring high! Now I am addicted- I never thought I would actually look forward to 45 minutes of high- intensity training, but my friend Katie really has changed my outlook on my health and wellness! I'm already excited about my next workout with her!"

"I have not worked out in a few years. I had shoulder surgery last year in 2016, and did not hop back in to any kind of exercise routine what so ever. I actually slid in to a bad place, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Feeling depressed, I knew I had to make a change, but did not know where to start. One day during a conversation with Katie, I felt she could help me. She has an infectious personality, she brightens my day! She is caring, extremely supportive, and encouraging. I have not felt this good in quite a while. Her passion for fitness is rewarding to me. I am physically getting stronger, and more aware of better eating habits. I am so pleased with Underground Training and my Trainer, now my friend, Katie! "

"I have a 4-year-old and 2-year-old at home and I work full-time. Even though I’ve always valued and prioritized working out, life got really busy—and my workouts fell to the bottom of my to-do list.
Then I started working out with Katie.
Katie’s 45-minute workouts have me pouring sweat within the first 10 minutes and inspire me to work so hard, I often feel like I got a 2-hour workout at the end of our sessions. Plus, Katie’s workouts are fun! She constantly switches up her routines, which not only keeps me seeing results but also prevents boredom.
In the last six months, I’ve toned up so much that all of my clothes are fitting better, I’m getting a ton of compliments (and questions about where I’m working out!), and most importantly, I feel stronger, happier, and more confident.
In a nutshell: I feel overwhelming gratitude to Katie and the big impact she’s had—and will continue to have—on my wellness and on my life."

If you want to do something really magical to improve your health and wellbeing, I have the answer.
It was a bold move for me, but I decided to take the advice of a friend and pay better attention to fitness. I have been active all of my life. I walk or run, and even my job was quite physically demanding. But my career was slowing down, and I was feeling stuck for an answer as to how I could keep up with these life changes. Okay, I admit it: Not only was I stuck, I was actually stiff and inflexible. This all changed when I met Katie. And that’s when the magic happened.
After some research, I reluctantly signed up for a private class with Katie at Underground Training. I am not really a fan of groups or gyms filled with sweaty people and loud machines. Underground is none of that. It is a beautiful, multi-level studio that is aesthetically pleasing and centrally located.
Katie is amazing. She is well trained, highly skilled, and passionate about her work. Quite simply: She has a gift. She made me feel so at ease. When you work with Katie, she might ask you to push yourself and you know what? You will. Because Katie knows you can. She is right there, saying all the right things to keep you going, and picking the right moves that miraculously she knows you can do.
I’m glad I started with a one-on-one class, because it gave me the confidence I needed to move forward. Soon, with Katie’s encouragement, I joined the group classes. I felt awkward at first, as most of the people in the classes were younger, but with Katie’s ability to identify each participant’s individual strength, she is able to guide each of us to our own personal best.
Katie’s classes are fun, too, because she brings variety to each session. As a result, we are constantly learning new moves and striving toward new goals. I look forward to each class, even thought I know I will be challenged and then exhausted when it’s over.
I go to Katie’s class for the fitness benefits, of course, but I have found something else. I also love my fellow exercise-mates. We admire and respect each other. We laugh. We push and support each other. And we leave feeling our best selves.
One final thought: I truly admire Katie for this fabulous business she has created. It is so refreshing to see young people choose to stay here and established a business. As a former business owner, I know this is not easy. But she has done it, and she is truly successful. Thanks, Katie, for having this positive impact on our community. It has been about a year since I joined Underground Training, and I can say for sure that Katie has enriched my life — body and soul.

As someone who wasn’t the least bit interested in working out, I was super hesitant when my friend wanted to drag me to an underground fitness workout. I was nervous and intimidated before I got there, but was immediately welcomed and encouraged by Katie who assured me I would survive. To my surprise, I survived, and even more shockingly, returned back for another class that same week( even though I could barely walk)!
Katie quickly showed me that working out doesn’t have to be a monotonous chore, and introduced me to different forms of exercise such as TRX, HIIT classes and circuit training. The workouts quickly became addicting and I found myself looking forward to waking up early and getting my sweat on.
Katie’s upbeat energy is contagious, and I’ve found not only changes in my body, but also my mind. Working out has now become a staple in my week, something I look forward to doing, something that I prioritize into my schedule. I feel lucky to have met a trainer who instilled a new confidence in me, and pushes me to new limits, encouraging me to work harder & be better!

I found Underground when I was looking to lose some weight for my wedding, but what I ended up finding was my confidence and a safe space when I needed to de- stress. Planning a wedding is emotionally draining and with all the pressure of being in shape for the big day, I needed a place that I could let go of all of that emotional weight. I found that place with Underground.
I started out taking every group class that was offered and eventually moved into private training sessions. I love the variety that Katie offers, when you want a good calorie burn you can count on HIIT classes to challenge you, but there’s also low impact classes when you need to slow it down. I genuinely look forward to every class or training session and leave feeling stronger than ever!
Katie is not only an amazing trainer, she is such a genuine and caring person. She has been so encouraging and supportive of my goals and knows how to challenge me. She has created a space that is welcoming and has built an amazing community of strong individuals.
